Maple - trying to find a recipe

  • Mar. 19th, 2010 at 10:55 AM
Hello lovely crock pot users I have quite the predicament.

I have a potluck to go to on Sunday, that I want to incorporate maple syrup into, and have like NO time to make anything (I am a student and only have 2 weeks of a condensed semester left.

Do any of you have any recipes that you love that contain maple syrup that do not have to be cooked for all that long? (or if they do reheat well?)

TIA!

work with what you got

  • Mar. 18th, 2010 at 8:51 PM
any ideas what these scenes could be about?

iqbaltheba: off to Paramount Stud to play with Jane, Matthew, Mark Salling, Corey Monteith. I think this is the first time I have a scene w/Mark Salling
why are those two in a scene with the principal? what fresh hell have they caused now?

iharryshum: Tired...but had a fun day! Good job @ijennaush it was a pleasure ;)
okay so sure, this may not even be a scene, maybe they just went out somewhere. but if it were, are the asians teaming up? is artie jealous? am i speculating too much?

and because i am amused:
iqbaltheba: @trishaveloso Thanx Trisha. is that Mark Salling sitting behind you?

Big Bang Challenge

  • Mar. 18th, 2010 at 9:31 PM
Hear ye! Hear ye! Calling all writers! I'm posting here as a co-moderator of the newly created [info]rerun_bigbang to get the word out about this writing challenge, tailored to writers who belong to "dead" fandoms--fandoms that belong to televisions shows that have gone off the air.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Big Bang challenges, allow me to explain in a nutshell. In general, Big Bang challenges are those in which writers sign up to write a story that pertains to a particular fandom and is over 20,000 words (though, certain fandoms have other minimum word count requirements).

The [info]rerun_bigbang challenge is a multi-fandom challenge and will enable writers to sign up to write a story within one of ten fandoms (fandoms will be decided by poll) that belong to television shows that are no longer producing new episodes. It's never too late to write for a show, even if it's been off the air for years, right? It's never too late to reignite your love--or express the love that just refuses to fade--for a show or its fandom. There are new viewers and readers discovering "old" fandoms every day and veterans who still find themselves coming back. So here's a chance to dive into your tried and true favorites!

We will have a FAQ, Rules, and Timeline section up soon. For now, we are only asking for fandom submissions. That is, since there are many shows that have gone off the air and since we feel that, in order to moderate well, a limit must be drawn, we need your help--potential writers, readers, cheerleaders, etc.--to decide which fandoms will be included amongst the challenge's ten.

So which fandoms would like to write for? Which ones would you like to see included in the challenge? Hit us with your suggestions! No fandom is too small or too extinct. The suggestion post is set to close on March 21st. After that, a poll will be posted and fandoms will be decided!

Make your suggestion here! And, of course, spread the word to those in other fandoms if you can! The more the merrier!

1/4 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
a few dashes of Tabasco sauce or other hot pepper sauce

Clown Paratrooper

  • Mar. 18th, 2010 at 5:47 PM

Have I done the impossible? (I think I have done the impossible!) Have I found the only thriftstore clown that is NOT a horror? Has this clown soldier parachuted behind enemy lines to win over the hearts and minds of coulrophobics everywhere? Let the voting begin! Has this lil' ol' 'don't ask, don't tell' shemale minx turned your phobia into philia?

FOX's "Glee" in Talks for Stage Development

  • Mar. 18th, 2010 at 4:43 PM
"Glee" may leap off the screen and into theatres. Music Theatre International, which licenses performance rights of Broadway titles from Legally Blonde to Fiddler on the Roof, is in talks to bring the hit FOX series to the stage.

MTI chairman Freddie Gershon told Playbill.com that "The 'Glee' deal is in negotiations. We're exploring a collaborative venture with Fox and 'Glee.' We just think it's a natural."

Gershon also revealed that a Junior version of The Little Mermaid was in the works, as well as Avenue G, which he characterized as "the G version of Avenue Q, with no full-frontal puppet nudity."

MTI has had great success licensing Disney's High School Musical and its sequel, as well as the Broadway hit Rent. The company also holds the rights to Wicked, Hairspray and Spring Awakening, which will be available for license in the future.

The "Glee" pilot premiered in May 19, 2009, and was seen by 9.6 million viewers. The Sept. 9 season premiere of "Glee," which was viewed by 7.3 million people, was the highest original series premiere for FOX in three years. The franchise continues to grow with CDs, DVDs, sheet music, choral arrangements and a live concert tour that will play Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix and Chicago.
Ryan Murphy ("Nip/Tuck"), Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan created the series that explores a group of misfit high school performers and their teachers. "Glee" will air the remainder of its first season beginning April 13 on FOX. Broadway's Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison star.

Okay, we've gotten the spoilers, we know the guest stars, and we know what we're all hoping for...but what are you worried about in regards to the way the show is heading?

Any hopes for what they WON'T do for the upcoming episodes? Any plot twists/cliches/etc that you hope Glee avoids?

[info]headswedance, feel free to gif this joint.
